FE100 savefile packer/unpacker sources

March 25th, 2009

Remember the little app released a few months ago? Thought I would develop it further and do some cleaning on the code back then but I lost interest, now I see I don’t want to clean it’s mess too :)

Just the usual cleaning of a VS source directory, removing all the build stuff and all the senseless VS crap,
Here is the sources : FE100-0.2b-src.rar

Crazy Intro v0.5 Beta

March 22nd, 2009

I know it has bugs but I needed to release this,
So here is the new version of Crazy Intro… 0.5 beta…

Changes are

* Using GRRLIB 4.0
* Able to use effects fully configurable using the config file
* Picture size & position is configurable and press this and
that stuff can be used too...
* Reset button leads to the system menu to overcome the wiimote
sync issue with preloader.
* If there is no custom stuff on the sd card then displays a
default intro
* Examine the supplied config file to see which effects are there
* And finally, this is still a beta version, so expect bugs!

Addicted to Notepad

March 1st, 2009

Do you open at least 10-15 notepad’s just to paste some stuff that your later copy and paste to somewhere else or save them for later reference?

If you do, then you are like me a notepad addict…

The good sides of the notepad are

1. Low memory footprint
2. Never seen it crashed
3. It doesn’t deal with a special format… it’s just plain ascii or uses your local’s encoding without problems…
4. It’s really fast to open and use.

Downsides are
1. Not compatible with unix files… (just for this reason I have now wordpads half the count of the notepads)

No matter what, it saves me from intermittent connection errors, whenever I write something bulky to post to a new site I just open a notepad and paste the thing before I click the submit button. The frustration of having lost a bulky text you wrote is really big… especially for someone that is quite lazy like me…

So if you find someone that have numerous txt files in his/her storage and his/her desktop is cluttered then that person is probably a notepad addict… like me… like you?

ps: copies the text above and puts into the new notepad he just opened.

Google advertising

March 1st, 2009

It’s been nearly 4 years I put google ads into my site (
I specifically targeted the kanji enthusiasts and wrote a small c program to extract the kanjis out of the default kanji font of the jwpe (japanese editor)

Combined it with the information I got from kanji database… After 4 years, now if you search for “kanji list” in google, my site comes up first… Though I did nothing to improve the site after launch.

At the start of this month, I got my first payment from google… Earned just $100 in 4 years :)

Quite the big portion of this amount resulted from the kanji pages, the rest from my homepage, the old and ugly inek ( which I had written nearly 9-10 years ago.

Total cost of this site to me for four years was $10*12*4 for the hosting and $10*4 for the domain registration summing up into $520…

Point of this post is, don’t overestimate the ads you see on sites :)
